Ways to Go Green and Save Green at the Office

In the world of office technology, environmental sustainability can be achieved in a number of ways and here are a few simple ways reduce your carbon footprint and your bottom line at the office.

Recycle your Toner and Ink Cartridges.

Send your spent print cartridges to be recycled. Reduce Paper Waste.

Print double-sided when you can.  Duplex printing is a feature of some computer printers and multifunction printers (MFPs) that allows the printing of a sheet of paper on both sides. Duplex capable devices can easily be programmed to print double sided by changing the print settings from your computer. 

Explore pull printing.  Pull Printing is a printing feature where a user's print job is held on a server or on a user's workstation and released by the user at any printing device which supports this feature.  To utilize pull printing, users must be authenticated at the printer using either embedded software or an external device based on the capabilities of your machine.  Users then select from a list of print jobs upon arriving at a printer.  The advantages are not only cost effective and environmental friendly; it also creates flexibility, security and management of print jobs. 

Paperless Filing using Electronic Document Storage.

Free up your annex space while reducing the amount of hard files floating around your office by using a document management system (DMS).  This system is used to track, manage and store documents and reduce paper. Most are capable of keeping a record of the various versions created and modified by different users (history tracking). The term has some overlap with the concepts of content management systems. It is often viewed as a component of enterprise content management (ECM) systems and related to digital asset management, document imaging, workflow systems and records management systems. Maximize Efficiency of your Printer Fleet.
